VTG and The Vermont Elm on WCAX News

November 2, 2016

Cat Viglienzoni and the WCAX team did a wonderful job capturing Tuesday’s events and spreading the word about Vermont Tree Good’s efforts to recycle The Vermont Elm, the largest elm in the northeast.

In her words: “The elm tree stands more than a hundred feet tall towering above the other trees in Charlotte, but not for much longer.  Tuesday it was time to say goodbye to a tree that has likely been around longer than the state of Vermont.  This slippery elm died from Dutch elm disease which decimated many of the elms in Vermont. But the wood will be reborn into furniture and other items and the funds used to help the Nature Conservancy’s efforts to replant other elm trees.”
